ADAS Explained

Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems are a family of safety systems designed to work together to automate and enhance vehicle safety, alerting the driver to hazards, aiding vision on the road, or applying semi-autonomous emergency braking or steering.

ADAS relies on cameras and radars to work as intended. Following wheel alignment, windscreen replacement or any collision, these devices can become misaligned, which can affect the system's functionality. Insurers expect calibration to be carried out after any repair that could affect it, just like an MOT.

We recommend a calibration after radar or camera replacement, accident damage (especially to the front or rear of the vehicle), windscreen replacement, suspension or steering component replacement, or wheel alignment adjustments.

Vehicles fitted with adaptive cruise control, blind spot awareness, LED matrix headlights, lane change assist, autonomous emergency braking or traffic sign recognition may require recalibration.
